Pagal Baba Ashram, Vrindavan

Pagal Baba Ashram was constructed by Pagal Baba (Shri Leelanand Thakur) who was once a judge. People called him Pagal Baba (Mad Baba) and the story behind this is "A poor Brahmin was a great devotee of Banke Bihari. Once he had borrowed a few rupees from a mahajan and used to repay it little by little every month. When the last installment remained, Mahajan sent him a court notice that he had not yet repaid the loan, so refund the entire amount of interest. In such a situation, the Brahmin was very upset. He went to Mahajan and gave a lot of clarification but Mahajan did not bother with his claim and the matter reached the court. In the court also, the Brahmin told the judge that he had paid all the money and Mahajan was lying. The judge asked if there was any witness in front of whom you used to pay money to Mahajan. After stopping for a while and thinking, the Brahmin said, "Banke Bihari will testify my part." In such a situation, when the court asked the address of the witness, the Brahmin said, "Banke Bihari Vald Vasudev, Banke Bihari Temple Vrindavan." In this case, summon was issued at this address. The Brahmin placed the summon in front of the idol and said, "Banke Bihari, you have to come to the court to testify." After this, on the day of the testimony, an old man was actually standing in front of the judge and told that I was with him while giving the money. And at the same time it was also told that when the amount was returned. When the judge saw Seth's bookkeeping, the testimony came out true. The amount was recorded and the name was fake. The judge declared the Brahmin innocent. Mahajan got into turmoil and asked the Brahmin who was the old man. The Brahmin said that he lives everywhere, comes automatically to help the poor. After this, Judge Sahab said to the Brahmin, who was this man who went away to give testimony? The Brahmin said, "Oh Judge Sir, this was my nobleman. Who could not see the dilemma of the devotee and came to save the honor of trust. " After hearing this, the judge lay down at the Brahmin's feet and asked Banke Bihari's address. In response to this question, the Brahmin said, "My thakur is everywhere, he is everywhere." After this, the judge left his home and all his business and went to find Thakur and became a fakir. When he returned to Vrindavan after many years, people came to know him by the name of Mad Baba."
