Biography of Shri Pitamber Dev Ji

Biography of Shri Pitamber Dev Ji

Family and Parent's Introduction:
There was a village called Sanjhapur in Narnaul, where a saintly person of the Gaur Brahmin clan lived, whose name was Shri Chaubelal.  He was a complete knower of Vedas and was also very wealthy. His dynasty was famous by the name Chaubey. His wife's name was Smt. Ramkunvari.
Shri Chaubelal was a devotee of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. He used to wear a rosary of Rudraksha on his neck and put Tripundra Tilak on his head, but he had no respect for Vaishnava's. His wife Ramkunvari was a great devotee of Shri Krishna and she was not at ease seeing her husband devoid of Lord Hari's devotion. She thought that such remedy should be done so that my husband also becomes a devotee of Krishna.
One day Shri Ramkuvari brought the beautiful Deity of Shri Radha Krishna and established it in the house, hiding from her husband. She used to worship him and started considering Shri Krishna as her husband.
Shri Ramkunvari would now pray to Shri Krishna "O Krishna, you are my husband and I am your wife, give me a son like you, who else do I have in this world except you."
In this way, Shri Ramkunvari would always pray to Shri Krishna and would use to see the image of the Lord in her heart.

Divine Birth :
Now the age of Shri Ramkunvari Ji had become 14 years. One day Shri Krishna came into her dream and said "Now your wish will be fulfilled".
Shri Ramkunvari woke up spontaneously on hearing Shri Krishna's words in the dream and started thinking with her heart filled with happiness that now Lord Hari has showered his mercy on me and my wish is going to be fulfilled.
Shri Ramkunvari conceived a divine pregnancy without male contact. When her mother-in-law and sister-in-law got the news of her pregnancy, all the family members were very happy. They all decorated Goddess Parvati in the temple of the house and everyone was feeling happy after having her darshan.
Like Mother Devaki, Yashoda and Kaushalya, radiance began to appear from the body of Shri Ramkuvari. Lakhs of rupees started appearing in the house unintentionally without any effort.
When the moment of the child's birth arrived, everyone started getting excited. Shri Ramkunvari in her blissful state got up and came to the cowshed of the house. On the evening of Bhadra Krishna Ashtami Tithi (8th day of the bright fortnight in Aug-Sept), Shri Ramkunvari gave birth to a child in the cowshed. The beauty of the child was like that of Shri Krishna. All the women ran towards the cowshed and brought Shri Ramkuvari along with the child inside the house. All the men and women of the village started celebrating. The sages and devotees were also very pleased with the birth of the child. The boy was named Prayagdas.
The child Prayagdas is now one year old and all the males and females of the village were have been delighted with the child's pastimes. The work for which efforts were made in the family would have been easily successful, even the deepest enemies became friends.
Shri Prayagdas's body was very radiant and every part of the body was well organized.

An event of the opulence of Shri Prayagdas (Divine Saint Shah Hussain):
In Punjab, there was a divine Saint named Shah Hussain who was a devotee of Shri Krishna. Shah Hussain was very prudent and dispassionate who used to roam freely. He used to be delighted at the sight of the saints. He used to love beautiful buildings and with his divine powers, he used to build houses wherever he went. With great interest, he would take out a lot of money from under his seat and get the building constructed after which, he would give it to the poor.
Shah Fakir used to love and serve the saints who were immersed in the love of Lord Hari. He considered Shri Krishna's devotees as his worshipful deity. Although Shah Husain was a Muslim, leaving behind his caste religion, he loved Krishna devotees. His beautiful voice would reveal the feelings of separation from Lord Hari, hearing which the sages, saints, and priests would also be delighted.
Shah Fakir had the knowledge of his past life, also had knowledge of the future, and lived with great care in the present, if someone respected him, he would have respected him on the contrary.
Shah Fakir was a great soul. He used to chant the name of Shri Krishna day and night.
Once he came to Sanjhapur while traveling from Punjab. All the people started coming for his darshan, who was considered a divine saint. Whoever came for his darshan, their desires were fulfilled. 200 women of the Sanjhapur village came for the darshan of the divine saint, in which Ramkunvari was also accompanied carrying child Prayagdas in her lap. Shri Ramkunvari had darshan of Shah Hussain and Shah Hussain's eyes fell on the child Prayagdas. On seeing the child, Shah Hussain got up from his seat and ran towards the child and took the child Prayagdas from the lap of Shri Ramkuvari and hugged him to his heart. Shah Hussain took the child Prayagdas's feet and touched with his eyes and head and started singing and narrating the story of the child's previous births. He started praying in many ways and repeatedly put the feet of the child on his head.
Shah Hussain started saying, "The child was a supreme renounced saint in his previous birth, who was a lover of the form of Shri Radha Krishna. I was his disciple but did not follow his orders. He preached esoteric religion to me in great detail but I was a fool and didn't understand. I used to argue with him because of my arrogance, on which he got angry with me. That's why I got a Muslim body and my spiritual master is now giving me His darshan by grace. Blessed are his parents, Blessed is this village where the Supreme Personality of Godhead Shri Hari himself has appeared."
Saying this, Shah Hussain gave the child Prayagdas to Ramkunvari and prostrated him again and again. All the women were tired and returned to their respective homes.

The family came to Delhi:
Shri Chaubelal Ji left Sanjhapur with his family and settled in Delhi. He builds a house in Delhi, and build a clothes shop, and made Shri Prayagdas Ji sit there to look after the shop. Shri Prayagdas Ji started handling the clothes shop. Shri Manohardas Ji, a disciple of Shri Swami Rasikdev Ji, who was a merchant, would often come to Shri Prayagdas and borrow some money for his business.

Shri Prayagdas's abandonment of caste pride and realization of the eternal form:
Once, when Shri Manohardas Ji had come to Shri Prayagdas Ji's shop to calculate the money borrowed, he felt very thirsty, his own shop was far away, so he told Shri Prayagdas Ji
"I am very thirsty and my throat is drying up, a Kayastha (low caste) devotee Shri Premdas Ji lives nearby, I come from his house after drinking water, then I will calculate the accounts."
Shri Prayagdas Ji said, “Manohardas Ji! I have kept fresh and clean water with me, all the Brahmanas come here to drink water, and you are going to drink water at the place of a lower caste Kayastha? "
Saying this Shri Prayagdas Ji went inside and brought a pot of clean water and gave it to Shri Manohardas Ji to drink. Shri Manohardas Ji did not drink even a little water and without giving any answer, he went away after paying obeisance to Shri Prayagdas Ji.
Shri Manohardas Ji went to Shri Premdas Ji's house and returned after drinking water. Shri Prayagdas Ji got some doubt on this and he said
"Listen to me, Manohardas! You belong to the Vanik (merchant) clan and are wise, leaving the water of the Brahmanas you ran towards the lower caste's house and drank the water. Who else would have a body as pure as the Brahmanas, whose water you renounced as behaving like a lower caste? This is the apprehension in my mind, please answer it."
Shri Manohardas Ji took Shri Prayagdas Ji in solitude and started telling about his worshipful practices. He first told Vaishnavism and then while singing the praises of the Rasikas, he told the rituals of the Rasikas.

"Sakal Bhakt Jo Koti Haun, Taamen Suddh Jo Ek.
Koti Suddh Sam Rasik Ek, Rasik Anany Vishesh."
There were will be only one pure devotee among millions of devotees, and even millions of such pure devotees cannot equate to a single Rasik devotee, and among them also the Rasik Ananya (exclusive devotees of Shri Radha Krishna in Nikunj Palace) are special..

Shri Manohardas Ji told Shri Prayagdas Ji about the misfortune of the best Brahmanas, who are devoid of devotion to Lord Hari and he proved that only the devotees of Lord Hari are the real Brahmanas.
In the eyes of Shri Hari, his devotee are the best, irrespective of the caste. For eg; Shri Krishna went to Vidurani's house (who was a lower caste) and ate the banana peels given by Vidurani with love. Shri Ram went to Shabri's hut (who was also a lower caste) and ate the leftover Plum given by Shabri with love. But even a Brahmana devoid of the devotion towards Lord Hari is condemnable. For eg; Dhundkari (who was a Brahmana) got the body of a ghost as described in the Mahatmya of Srimad Bhagwat, and Ajamil (who was also a Brahmana) had the vision of messengers of Yamaraj (God of hell) mentioned in the first chapter of the sixth canto of Srimad Bhagwat.
Shri Prayagdas Ji was very pleased to hear the Nectarian speech of Shri Manohardas Ji along with scriptural principles and he hugged Manohardas Ji to his heart.
Due to the influence of Shri Manohardas Ji's Satsang, the divine form began to appear in the heart of Shri Prayagdas Ji and he became aware of his eternal divine form of Sakhi. Now Shri Prayagdas Ji became disinterested in worldly affairs. All the material happiness and prosperity started looking meaningless to Shri Prayagdas Ji and the Rasik devotees started looking very dear.

The first arrival to Vrindavan and initiation:
One day Shri Prayagdas Ji came to the Kayastha devotee Shri Premdas Ji. There he listened to the hymns of Shri Rasikdev Ji and suddenly his heart developed love towards the lotus feet of Shri Rasikdev.
Shri Prayagdas Ji quietly left the material world and came to Shri Vrindavan and appeared at the lotus feet of Shri Rasikdev. On seeing Shri Prayagdas, Shri Rasikdev Ji was pleased and got up from his seat and hugged him to the heart. Just as a child of a cuckoo grows up in a crow's nest, but as soon as it grows up, he leaves the company of crows and joins the cuckoo, similarly Shri Prayagdas Ji renounced everything and came to his Guru's lotus feet and Shri Rasikdev adopted him as his own.
Shri Rasikdev Ji recognized Shri Prayagdas Ji as the eternal Sakhi of Nikunj Palace, and made him his disciple and gave him the name Shri Pitambardas.

Shri Pitamber Dev Ji's father came to Vrindavan and took him to Delhi with him:
Here in Delhi, Shri Chaubelal, the father of Shri Pitambardas Ji, got information about the initiation and rituals of his son from somewhere, so he started searching for his son. Shri Chaubelal came to the Kayastha devotee Shri Premdas and started beating and intimidating him. Shri Premdas Ji said that your son has gone to Shri Vrindavan and has become a disciple of Shri Rasikdev Ji. On hearing this Shri Chaubelal went to Vrindavan and found his son with Shri Rasikdev Ji.
On seeing his son, Shri Chaubelal immediately came to Shri Pitambardas Ji, broke the Kanthi (tulsi bead) of his neck and threw it and wiped the tilak off his forehead and said to Shri Rasikdev Ji, "If you allow my son to come here again, then you will watch what will I do with you !" But Shri Rasikdev Ji was immersed in the divine pastimes, he has not paid any attention to this threat.
In this way, while threatening Shri Rasikdev Ji, Shri Chaubelal Ji brought his son Shri Pitambardas Ji with him to Delhi. In the house, Shri Chaubelal has appointed 8 strong bodyguards to look after Pitambardas Ji that he should not go out anywhere, do not meet anyone, should not talk to anyone. Those eight evil bodyguards used to threaten Shri Pitambardas Ji again and again.

Shri Pitamber Dev Ji's second arrival to Vrindavan and being freed from the bondage of caste and clan by renouncing Sacred Thread:
One day Shri Pitambardas Ji, hiding everyone's eyes, came to Shri Vrindavan and bowed down to Guru Shri Rasikdev Ji. Shri Rasikdev said
"O Pitambardas, you are very dear to me, but this quarrel in your house creates a disturbance in my contemplation, so do this, you may reside somewhere else for some time to show the world that you are alone."
Hearing the order of the spiritual master, Shri Pitambardas Ji did the same. Having faith in the lotus feet of his Gurudev, he came on the bank of Shri Yamuna, broke his Sacred Thread and threw it away, wearing a Gudadi (a piece of cloth) and taking Karuva (mud water pot) in his hand, he sat there and started his spiritual practices.

Shri Pitamber Dev Ji's father along with 200 Brahmanas came to Mathura and complaint about Shri Rasikdev Ji to King Maharaja Jai Singh:
In Delhi, when Shri Chaubelal came to know that my son had again escaped and went to Vrindavan, he along with 200 Brahmanas came to the court of Mathura King Shri Jai Singh.
Shri Chaubelal Ji told Maharaj Jai Singh
“O Maharaj, you are the king of the dynasty of Shri Raghunath Ji (Lord Ram), so you should help the Brahmanas. There lives a recluse saint named Rasikdas in Shri Vrindavan, he is a big deceiver but has disguised himself as the detached renouncer. He has made my son a renouncer by deceit and has also broken his sacred thread by getting rid of all the Vedic Karma and he feeds my son with leftovers. He gets alms from the house of seven castes from place to place and feeds the Brahmanas present there. Afterward, he instructs everyone that one who eats the leftover thus attains Sri Hari, the one who renounces Gayatri and Sandhya Vandana can walk in the path of Sri Hari, the one who eats food with the lower caste becomes free from misery and he attains the supreme position. O Maharaj, that deceitful saint has parted these kinds of instructions to my son in the name of the supreme bliss, and has put Gudadi (a piece of cloth)  to my son's neck and instructed to put mud in all the parts of the body. See what a disastrous disguise he has provided to my son."
When Maharaj Jai Singh heard this from the Brahmanas, he started feeling very guilty. He ordered his brother Shri Deep Singh Kamani "O Deep Singh, take 200 soldiers and demolish the Kunj of Shri Rasikdev, destroy it all."
After getting the permission of the Maharaj, Deep Singh went towards Vrindavan with 200 soldiers.
Here in Vrindavan, all the information reached Shri Rasikdev. He immediately called Shri Pitamber Dev Ji and narrated the whole story. Hearing this story from the Guru, Shri Pitamber Dev Ji started getting worried. At the same time, he thought of a solution, when all the Brahmanas were walking towards Vrindavan with Deep Singh and 200 soldiers, then Shri Pitambar Dev Ji himself appeared at a place named Kevari on the way. Shri Chaubelal Ji, seeing his son, grabbed his hand, and brought it to Deep Singh. Deep Singh heard all the details from Shri Pitamber Dev Ji in detail and sent this information to Maharaj Jai Singh, after hearing which Maharaj called everyone back to the palace.
Everyone reached the palace. Maharaj Jai Singh was pleased to see Shri Pitamber Dev and said, "Why did you renounce your clan, and from whom did you receive instruction after that."
Hearing the words of Maharaj Jai Singh, Shri Pitamber Dev Ji said, "O Maharaj, to do devotion to Hari and Guru, is the religion of the Brahmana, and to be estranged from the Lord is the work of the lowly person. One who is situated in the ego of his caste and pride, never knows the devotion of Lord Hari. The servants of Shri Hari have no caste or clan, this caste and clan are all illusions, the devotees of Hari wash away this delusion like scum. Those who are situated in the pride of their clan cannot understand the pride of being Shri Hari's servant. I am the servant of Gurudev Shri Rasikdev Ji, what is my relation with caste and clan? Now I have neither the greed of heaven nor the fear of hell and nor the desire of the higher worlds. I am infatuated with the glory of Shri Guru's lotus feet, I remain engrossed in the Nectar of the eternal Divine Pastimes of Shri Shyamashyam."
Maharaj Jai Singh, after listening to the supernatural voice of Shri Pitamber Dev Ji, thought in his mind that this knowledge is esoteric and paramount, and began to yearn for the dust of his lotus feet. Maharaj told the Brahmanas
"O all Brahmanas, listen to me, I have come to know about your lies, Shri Rasikdev Ji is completely selfless, he is a great man, all of you have committed a crime at his lotus feet, all of you have renounced the dignity of service to the sages and have become criminals, therefore you all should go to Shri Rasikdev Ji and pray for forgiveness at his lotus feet. Take your son to your home by renouncing the sinful thought towards saints.

Shri Pitamber Dev Ji's father took him again to Delhi with him:
Those arrogant Brahmanas did not feel any remorse even after listening to Maharaj Jai Singh. Along with the Brahmanas, Shri Chaubelal came to Delhi with Shri Pitamber Dev.
Seeing the stubbornness of Shri Chaubelal, Shri Pitamber Dev Ji stayed in the house for a year but did not give up his worshipful practices. A Brahmana by the name of Shri Shyamdas would come to Shri Pitambar Dev Ji and try to scare him by saying harsh words and preaching various types of knowledge. He recited many poems and preached religion. Sometimes he would praise the Brahmana clan and sometimes the caste. Sometimes he would give knowledge of wealth and material happiness and sometimes he would lay his head at the feet of Shri Pitambar Dev Ji. In this way, he would explain to Shri Pitamber Dev Ji in every way.
But Shri Pitamber Dev was dear to his guru Shri Rasikdev, nobody else's preaching could reach his ears.

(The wonderful behavior of Shri Pitamber Dev Ji and his father's abandonment)
Shri Pitamber Dev used to see the whole world as a straw of grass. Just as the lotus flower does not touch the water even when it is in the water, similarly Shri Pitamber Dev, while living in the world, remains detached from the world. When his parents used to wear him in beautiful clothes, then Shri Pitamber Dev used to take off those clothes and burn them in the fire. Shri Pitambar Dev used to broke those earthen pots which were filled with grains and used to mix them in one. He also used to spoil the work that has been done.
Whenever saints came to the house of Shri Pitamber Dev for alms, he would give him all the grains, and getting the saint's seat installed in the house, he used to offer him food and would take the leftovers as prasad. When Shri Chaubelal heard this whole story, he became very sad. Sometimes he would hit his own head on the wall and sometimes he would fall to the ground unconscious. He would take off his turban and place it at the feet of Shri Pitamber Dev Ji and would explain in many ways that "leave all this, do as I say." But these words couldn't affect the mind of Shri Pitamber Dev.
On hearing this event, many Brahmanas came unitedly to Shri Chaubelal and said, "O Chaubelal Ji, you are more admired in the whole Brahmana society, you are the chanter of Gayatri Mantra, the renouncer of unrighteousness and the one who considers karma as the prime. You are the devotee and servant of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati and are entitled to the Brahma Karma as described in the Vedas in all respects. Having a father like you is the fruit of virtues of many-many births, by which the son is also blessed. Shri Pitambar Dev Ji did not know his good fortune and even after being born in the Brahmana clan, he couldn't solve his doubts and got trapped. Whoever became a monk after shaving his head and ate the leftovers of the lowly person, has corrupted his Brahmana religion. Even if we all along with you do crores of preachings to Shri Pitamber Dev Ji, there will be no effect on your son. It is described in the scriptures that how Kali Yuga will come, Varnashrama (clan) Dharma and all methods will disappear, today the time has come, one by one all the Varnas will be destroyed. Abandon your son and set your mind at the feet of Lord Shiva."
Hearing the words of the Brahmanas, Shri Chaubelal decided at that very moment and called Shri Pitambar Dev Ji and said, "O son, I give up on you from today, and the entire Brahmana community is a witness to this."
When Shri Pitamber Dev Ji heard this voice, he said, "O Father, you are proud of your caste and clan, but I am above all these varnas and castes and am honored by all of you. (Brahmanas also respect the devotees of Lord Hari.) Once the fire is extinguished, it does not ignite again, once the wood is cut, it does not join again, once the tusks of the elephant are removed, they do not reapply, once the ghee is separated from buttermilk then it can't be undone, similarly when the devotees of Shri Hari give up their caste, then they are never bound again in the bondage of caste. Who can bind a selfless saint, you are all bound by the attachment of the material world, but this world is an allusion, who will ride a donkey leaving the elephant. You all are busy collecting pieces of glass, leaving the Chintamani in the form of Sadguru. You all are attached to this material world, and for this reason, you are preaching to me in various ways. My body has been manifested through you, by accepting this relationship, you love me and want me to do as you say. If I worship my worshipful deity, then all your family will be saved from this illusion.
Write a letter in front of all that you have no relation with me now, I am not your son and you are not my father, I am the servant of my Guru Shri Swami Rasikdev Ji. If you still call me your son, then you may get hell for a hundred births.
In this way Shri Pitamber Dev Ji got the letter signed and stamped on it and seeing all his family members weeping, he went towards Vrindavan.

Arrival of Shri Pitamber Dev Ji again in Vrindavan:
While walking day and night, Shri Pitambar Dev Ji reached Vrindavan and appeared in front of Shri Rasikdev Ji. Sri Rasikdev was very happy when the disciple returned, but he said
"O Pitamber Das, tell me how do you come now, how do you run away from home, now your father will come here with the Brahmana community and will create disturbance to me and you."
Hearing these words of Gurudev, Shri Pitamber Dev Ji handed over the letter to Shri Gurudev. Shri Rasikdev Ji read that letter and was very pleased and got up from his seat and hugged Shri Pitambar Dev Ji to his heart.

Shri Pitambar Dev Ji went to Pilgrimage :
Here in Delhi, Shri Chaubelal Ji was getting distraught because of his attachment towards his son. He took the Brahmanas with him and came to Vrindavan. When Shri Pitamber Dev Ji saw all the Brahmanas with his father Shri Chaubelal Ji, he understood that all of them would then take me to their home. At that very moment after getting permission from Shri Gurudev, Shri Pitambar Dev Ji left Vrindavan and went on pilgrimage. He had a golden complexioned body with beautiful limbs, had Karuva (mud water pot) in his hand and Kamari (blanket) on his shoulder, with Guru and Hari in his heart, he was immersed in the nectarine pastimes of Shri Kunj Bihari Biharini Ju.
Shri Pitamber Dev Ji first reached Giriraj Govardhan. After this, through Aawari Pur, Malaketu, Pushkar Tirtha, Chaturbhuj Roop, he reached Nathdwara via Rajsamudra and had darshan of Shrinath Ji. After this, through Ekling Lord Shiva, he reached Ahmedabad via Udaipur, Dungarpur, Mohanpur, Jaliya, Banpur. From there, he came to Sudama Puri via Brahmakund, Panchtirtha, Girnar. After this, he saw the confluence of the Gomti river and the ocean and took a bath, after which he reached Bhav Nagar. From there he came to Bet and stayed there for a month. From there, he reached Gopichandan and bowed down to this place, after this, through Tarak Pind, Morvi, Badpur, Siddhapur, he reached Bindu Sarovar where Kardam Rishi had meditated, and his wife Manu's daughter Mother Devahuti gave birth to Lord Kapila here. Shri Pitambar Dev Ji resided at this place for 6 months. He used to regularly bathe in Bindu Sarovar and meditate on his worshipful deity. Some virtuous people would bring Food for him, of which Shri Pitambar Dev Ji would take one-fourth part and chant the mantra day and night. He would always remain free from Tritapas (material sufferings, natural sufferings, mental and physical sufferings). Thus 6 months passed while living in Bindu Sarovar.

Shri Pitamber Dev Ji met with divine souls and attained supernatural powers:
One day a wonderful man came to Shri Pitambar Dev Ji and was pleased to see him. Seeing that man, Shri Pitamber Dev Ji asked, "Who are you"
That man paid obeisance at the feet of Shri Pitambar Dev Ji and said
"My name is Nagarjuna, I can assume any form as I desire, this place is unique and is full of yoga science. This beautiful mountain is called Aabhu mountain by the people here. Many divine sages reside in the middle of this mountain, whose practices are related to yoga. These sages are pure souls who have renounced all the desires of this world with both their bodies and mind. Many sages reside on this mountain, who have renounced the desires of the higher worlds. And there are some sages whose heart is fixed in Shri Hari. This is the place of Lord Kapil and he resides freely here. Come with me and have darshan of all the sages.
Hearing the words of Nagarjuna, Shri Pitamber Dev Ji started walking with him. While walking inside the mountain for 6 yojanas (72 km), Shri Pitambar Dev and Nagarjuna reached a peak. The image there was frantic. From there, there was another peak at a height of half a yojana (6 km). Nagarjuna told Shri Pitambar Dev Ji
"You go to that peak and see the surrounding palaces. There will be a vision of such a palace whose door will be very subtle and a big fearful lion will be sitting at the door. Within the same palace, Lord Kapil is seated, who is the master of Sankhya Yoga. He is a great master of the yogic masters. If you return from the door after fearing that lion, you will become half perfected (attaining supernatural powers), and if you move further fearlessly and have darshan of Lord Kapil, then you will become completely perfect."
Hearing the words of Nagarjuna, Shri Pitamber Dev Ji started climbing that peak. Siddha Ganga river used to flow on top of that peak. Shri Pitamber Dev Ji reached that peak and saw a terrible lion sitting at the door of the palace who came forward roaring. But Shri Pitambar Dev Ji moved to the door of the palace fearlessly and at the same time, there was a voice from the sky that "now you have become perfect and you are respected by all the sages. Now you go back from here, the movement of time (whatever will happen in the future and whatever had happened in the past), you will hear it in your ears every moment. If you go down from this mountain to the ground, then you will see me too."
This was the voice of Lord Kapil.
When Shri Pitambar Dev Ji heard this voice from the sky, understanding its essence he came down from the mountain to the ground. But even Nagarjuna was not found there. At that very moment, two divine men came there, with a tilak on the forehead and kanthi in the neck. Both the sages bowed down at the feet of Shri Pitamber Dev Ji and started talking as if they already knew Shri Pitamber Dev Ji.

Shri Pitamber Dev Ji's meeting and conversation with Lord Kapil:
Now both the saints including Shri Pitambar Dev seeing the deep paths of the mountain which was intimidating started walking together. The forest was dense and full of trees and there were terrifying bears roaming around. Monkeys were fighting among themselves and screaming. Lions were roaring like clouds, tigers are also uttering terrible sounds. Reindeer were roaming in the forest and Cheetahs were roaming ambush for their prey. Large venomous snakes and scorpions were crawling around. There were huge caves which are covered with flowers and vines. There were ripe mango trees that tastes were like nectar. Cuckoo and parrots were making melodious sounds. Sweet fruits like Barna, Khirni, Tanduka, Beel, Jambu, Fig, Karunda, Amli, sweet potato were lying on the grounds and trees in the forest. There were such gardens where different types of sweet potatoes and vegetables had been planted. When moved further, there was an ancient Jain Temple in which there was a statue of white and black color. There was a waterfall of clean water which was a perfect place. Shri Pitambar Dev Ji and those two men stayed there under a tree. While resting under the tree, Shri Pitamber Dev Ji saw a man whose body was weak and thin. Putting his torn old garment on his head, he was mining the grass with a shovel.
That weak man came to Shri Pitambar Dev Ji and started talking. But he is not making eye contact with Shri Pitambar Dev Ji and his face was radiating. He seems to be very proficient with divine opulence in seeing. His way of talking is also unique, he is looking at stones and trees while speaking to Shri Pitambar Dev Ji. Even Shri Pitamber Dev Ji, listening to the voice of that man, feels peace in his mind. Hearing the answer of Shri Pitamber Dev Ji, that man feels happy. After some time he said
"Today is Ekadashi, it is forbidden to take food on this day."
But Shri Pitamber Dev Ji is asking for food and that man kept refusing by talking about various kinds of things. Then he asked Shri Pitamber Dev Ji
"What do you take on Ekadashi, food or fruits? I can arrange both fruits and food."
Shri Pitamber Dev Ji said, "I keep fast every day and that is Ananya Vrat (seeing Shri Radha Krishna everywhere and eating their leftover food remnants), but in this dense forest, arranging food will be difficult, so today I will take fruit."
Hearing this, the divine man climbed up a high mound and said something in a loud voice, and suddenly there came millions of buffaloes carrying very sweet Sarda fruit, but to the surprise, there was not a single human with the buffaloes. That divine man brought a Sarda fruit and fed it to Shri Pitambar Dev Ji. The two men who had come with Shri Pitamber Dev Ji also ate the Sarda fruit. Then that divine person told Shri Pitambar Dev Ji that we should go somewhere in solitude and have some conversation. After this Shri Pitamber and that divine person went in solitude and started talking.
This divine person was none other than Lord Kapil Dev Ji.

Shri Pitamber Dev Ji's wandering in Avadhoot (insentient) state:
From the mountainous region, he came to Abu where he lived for seven years, and from there reached Pushkar pilgrimage. There was a very beautiful mountain where the sages resided. Shri Pitambar Dev Ji now started walking in the form of Avadhoot (insentient state). His body appeared to be a bright beam, there was no clothing on his body. Immersed in the divine pastimes of Shri Radha Krishna, he was moving freely, and did not speak anything to anyone, and remain silent. Sometimes he resided on the Nagbar mountain and sometimes in the middle of Pushkar.

Shri Pitamber Dev Ji's meeting with Khwaja Mira in Ajmer:
One day, passing through the mountain, Shri Pitamber Dev Ji came to Ajmer, where he climbed a mountain and started living there. Khwaja Mira came to Shri Pitambar Dev Ji in the middle of the night during the rain and woke him from sleep hesitantly. Shri Pitamber Dev Ji woke up and when he saw Khwaja Mira's fearful form, he thought who is this man in such a fearful form. Shri Pitamber Dev Ji asked Khwaja Mira
"Who are you"
Khwaja Mira said, "I and you both are pirs (saints), I reside here, but you have come from outside, who are you."
Shri Pitamber Dev Ji said, "I am your son-in-law."
Hearing this, Khwaja Mira came near and both of them started talking with laughter. Khwaja Mira said
"I accept that you are my son-in-law, I believe this. Now you reside in Ajmer, your fame will expand here. My lineage will remain as your servant, and they will do as you say. You are my son-in-law and I am your father-in-law, who else is there in this land as the two of us."
Hearing this, Shri Pitambar Dev started living in Ajmer. Due to his majesty, the Hindus and Muslims of Ajmer started treating each other with humility and started calling Shri Pitamber Dev Ji their spiritual master.
Whenever Shri Pitamber Dev Ji had wished, he would run and climbed the tomb and would sit there. When the Muslim servants present in the service saw this, they ran to kill him out of anger, but Khwaja Mira appeared in a terrifying form and showed them the fear of death, due to which all the Muslim servants came at the feet of Shri Pitamber Dev and started praising him. Like the emperor, Shri Pitambar Dev started playing with the children there. There he pitched a tent and camped there. The Brahmana children of the Dadhichi clan stayed there in his service. They would guard him with earthen elephants and wooden guns and swords. Some children have become ministers, some are commanders, some are soldiers and some are servants, they all play together with the emperor Shri Pitambardev. Many people would come there and offer food, which Shri Pitambar Dev Ji would distribute.
When the Governor of Ajmer came to know about such a game on Khwaja Mira's Tomb of Shri Pitamber Dev Ji, he got angry and sent the Minister to fix everything by removing Shri Pitamber Dev Ji from that place. The Minister took the army with him and came to Shri Pitamber Dev. When Shri Pitambar Dev Ji saw the minister and the army, he placed his hand on the earthen elephants and horses along with wooden soldiers, they all became alive and fought with the minister's army and defeated them. When the minister saw these miracles and the way of living of Shri Pitambar Dev, reverence arose in his heart at the feet of Shri Pitamber Dev Ji. The Minister went to the Governor and narrated the whole story, the Governor also fell at the feet of Shri Pitambar Dev Ji.

The arrival of Shri Pitamber Dev Ji in Vrindavan and being freed from the Siddhi (supernatural powers) by Guru's grace:
Here in Vrindavan, Shri Rasik Dev Ji came to know about this prodigy of Shri Pitamber Dev Ji in Ajmer, then he sent a letter and called. After reading the letter, Shri Pitamber Ji went to Vrindavan and bowed down at the feet of Shri Rasik Dev Ji.
Shri Rasikdev Ji said "Oh Siddha Ji (possessor of supernatural powers), are you well, it is a pleasure to see you. I am happy with you, ask whatever you want."
Shri Pitamber Dev Ji said, "O Shri Gurudev, may I always have faith in your lotus feet, and I shall always be your personal servant. Grant me Guru-Bhakti (devotion to spiritual master), and I may follow the essence of Nitya Vihar. I met Nagarjuna on pilgrimage, who sent me to the palace of Lord Kapil Dev. I immediately went there and there was a voice from the sky that immediately go down from here, at the same time I came down from the mountain. From that moment, my ears started to hear all the things of past and future. I began to hear everything. Every moment the sound is heard in the ears, and I do not like it. Pandits, Saints and Siddhas, all say that fame is not good for a devotional practitioner, the devotional feelings get disappear and the valuable time gets wasted. Give me this boon that in all respects I can serve you only.
Hearing this voice of Shri Pitamber Dev Ji, Shri Rasik Dev Ji said
"Just as a lamp meets a lamp to become a lamp, in the same way, you will become like me. The sound that you hear in your ears will stop now and will never be heard again." Saying this Shri Rasikdev Ji hugged Shri Pitambar Dev Ji to his heart and made him equal to himself.
Many fallen souls came at the feet of Shri Pitambar Dev Ji and they all started drowning in the divine nectar.
One day, on the orders of Shri Rasikdev Dev Ji, Shri Pitambar Dev Ji went to Jaipur to pick up Thakur Jugalbihari. As soon as he came to Jaipur, he made many Brahmanas his disciples, including Shri Kishor Das Ji.

Liberation of a Ghost by eating leftover food remnants of Shri Pitamber Dev Ji:
There lived a Kayastha (merchant) in the city of Samhari who had become a powerful ghost. His name was Sahajram. That ghost was very terrible and would give agony to all the relatives. The ghost used to reside in the body of his younger brother's wife. Many exorcists and pundits would come to remove the ghost from inside that woman.
When an exorcist came for the treatment of that woman, that ghost would recite the mantra to him. When someone starts the ritual for removing the evil spirit, the ghost would tell him the prescribed method. When someone got a yantra (holy instrument) made from somewhere, that ghost would tell the method of its practice. If someone recited a couplet, that ghost would recite Sanskrit shlokas to him. He also spoke in Persian, Arabic, and Turkish. If anyone had discussed with that ghost, he would have immediately defeated him by scriptural evidence.
Such a ghost is very fearful because no remedy works in front of it. All the pundits, exorcists, and intellectuals were defeated by this ghost and all the family members were frightened of this.
Nearby lived a Kayastha devotee whose name was Nagji. He would listen to the nuisance of that ghost day by day. Shri Nagji was a very devoted saint, he used to serve his spiritual master and Lord Hari. He contemplated prudently that this ghost is an expert in all the rituals, is more knowledgeable than the pundits and saints. One day he thought that I should ask the ghost why he got the ghost body. Thinking like this, Nagji came to that ghost. When the ghost saw Nagji, he was pleased and bowed down by placing his head at his feet. When Nagji saw that ghost, he prayed to his spiritual master and Lord Hari and said
"I'm begging you, please tell me why you got this ghost body."
Listening to Nagji, the ghost said, "O son, listen to me, I tell you the story of my previous birth, I did not worship Shri Hari who had given me this human body.
By the grace of my spiritual master, I got good qualities but I didn't serve the same spiritual master. If any sage or saint would come to my house, he would be insulted by me. I always felt proud of this false body and remained egoistic in all respects. I started liking the gathering of Yavanas (non-believers) every moment. And did not like the words of my spiritual master. I used to eat food without offering to Shri Hari and had never been humbled in front of my spiritual master because of my ignorance and pride. I used to eat meat after killing animals and drink alcohol. I used to love this material life. I used to spend money on courtesans and listen and speak false words. Apart from this, by doing many more misdeeds, I earned all the sins, as a result of which I got this ghost body.
Nagji heard the whole story of the ghost and said
"Listen to me, tell me the truth, first you earned sinful deeds, as a result of which you got this ghost body, now tell me how you can be free from this ghost body, what is the solution, don't hide anything from me."
The ghost spoke while obeying Nagji
"The master of all the masters in the form of Shri Hari is Shri Pitamber Dev Ji. On eating his leftover food remnants, man becomes free from discrimination. He has come from Shri Vrindavan to Jaipur at Maharaj Jai Singh's palace, and he will come to this Samhari village in 10 days. You should go in front of him and take his leftover food remnants and put it in my mouth so that I will get rid of this ghost body immediately."
Nagji listened to everything and kept it in his heart. After this Shri Pitambar Dev Ji came to Samhari village, all the people started going for his darshan. Shri Pitambar Dev came to the banks of the Sukri river and after taking a bath, he installed his worshipful deity there. After ordering stuff and foods, he offered food to his worshipful deity. Shri Pitamber Dev Ji took Prasad of his worshipful deity. Nagji took the leftover food remnants of Shri Pitambar Dev Ji and came to the ghost. The ghost appeared very pleased, and as soon as he put the leftover food remnants in his mouth, at that very moment he fell on the ground and the ghost became free from the body.
Due to the leftover food remnants of Shri Pitamber Dev Ji, such a ghost also became free. When the people of the village saw this effect of Shri Pitamber Dev Ji, all the people became his disciples. Nagji also became a disciple of Shri Pitamber Dev Ji and his name became Shri Nagri Das.

Meeting with Bamacharya of the left path and the appearance of Sri Vigraha (deity):
From Samhari village, Shri Pitamber Dev Ji went ahead and came to Dungarpur on the way. Stayed there for a few days to find the Deity of Shri Jugal Bihari Ji. There was the abode of the seekers of the left path, who were devoid of Hari and adulterous. Their spiritual master was a very strong saint, whose name was Bamacharya. All the people and the king there used to listen to him only.
10 women used to live with Bamacharya every day. His abode was like a temple and his throne was very beautiful. Very soft and precious carpets were laid around the throne and there was a curtain everywhere. Bamacharya would sit in the middle and naked women would be present all around. Bamacharya lived as Digambar (without a single cloth on the body). The king there had more faith in him. Shri Pitambar Dev Ji listened to Bamacharya's rituals, and out of admiration, wearing a black blanket, went to Bamacharya. On seeing Shri Pitamber Dev Ji, Bamacharya stood up and bowed at the feet with folded hands. Bamacharya covered his limbs with a cloth and also covered the limbs of those women. He placed Shri Pitambar Dev Ji on his throne and started saying with folded hands
"You are a perfect great man (possessor of all supernatural powers), you are famous, you are the chanter of divine mantra. First, listen to my rituals, and after that clear my confusion by reciting your rituals. The woman is my worshipful deity, don't consider me vicious, I will explain my practice in detail. Naked women are present around me, but my mind never goes towards them. Meat and liquor are near me but I have never tasted them. I have subdued all my senses. When I bowed my head to anyone, he immediately dies, the statue before which I bow my head breaks into pieces at that very moment. I got up and bowed my head in front of you, but instead of your death, it happened totally opposite and your body has become more beautiful. That's why I bow down to you millions of times. Please rest here and tell me who is your worshipful deity, I want to serve you."
Hearing the words of Bamacharya, Shri Pitambar Dev Ji said
"Listen to me, I am also a saint of left path, my worshipful deity is Shri Radha Krishna who are the essence of Saguna (with qualities) and Nirguna (without qualities). I am the Baam (Sakhi) of that divine couple, this is my left path, my worshipful deity is the cause of all and are above all. Such my deities move freely, who are the fruits of the ocean of ecstasy. Now do one thing for me, I have a desire and I will be happy if my desire becomes successful. Bring a rock from the diamond mine and get a beautiful Deity made which will be sent to Vrindavan."
When Bamacharya heard the words of Shri Pitamber Dev Ji, he ordered a rock from the diamond mine. Seeing the rock, Shri Pitamber Dev Ji became happy. Shri Vigraha (deity) was made from rock, all the parts of which were very beautiful.

Arrival in Vrindavan and establishment of Shri Jugalbihari Ji:
Shri Pitamber Dev came to Jaipur from Dungarpur with the Deity. Here he manifested the beautiful deity of Shri Radharani. Now the beautiful pair of Shri Thakur Ji and Thakurani Ji seemed very sweet.
Shri Pitamber Dev Ji came to Vrindavan from Jaipur with both the deities. After having darshan of Shri Rasikdev Ji, he prostrated at his feet. Shri Rasikdev Ji lifted Shri Pitambar Dev Ji and hugged him to his heart and was pleased. Rasik devotees felt happy after seeing the beautiful deity of Shri Radha Krishna. Shri Vigraha (deity) was placed in a Kunja at Suraj Ghat. The deities were named Shri Jugalbihari and Shri Pitambar Dev Ji started residing there.

Returning to Pushkar pilgrimage and conquering sleep:
One day Shri Pitamber Dev Ji came to Pushkar pilgrimage from Vrindavan. There was the abode of sage Mankan near Nagbar mountain. Shri Pitamber Dev Ji used to go there in the evening and meditate on his worshipful deities in the night.
Whenever he contemplated his worshipful deities, at that time he would fall asleep. Shri Pitambar Dev Ji thought of conquering sleep. Shri Pitambar Dev Ji stayed awake for a month and did not allow the eyelids to fall even for a moment. Then in a manifest form Goddess Nidra (sleep) came to Shri Pitambar Dev Ji. Shri Pitamber Dev Ji felt as if Shri Shyamsundar had come to me. At the same time, Goddess Nidra (sleep) told Shri Pitambar Dev Ji that now I will never come to you. Saying this, Goddess Nidra (sleep) disappeared. Shri Pitambar Dev Ji was very pleased with this. After this, Shri Pitamber Dev Ji never fell asleep.

The disappearance of Shri Rasikdev Ji, Kaliyug context, Shri Pitamber Dev Ji was enthroned on the throne:
One day Shri Rasik Dev Ji, who was seated in Shri Vrindavan, thought that now he should leave his body and enter Nikunj. He called all his disciples and made them sit beside him and being very pleased started asking
"The time has come to leave my body, who should be made the Acharya of this place. I will do as you all say."
The disciples knew that Shri Pitamber Dev is the only one who has the right to sit on this throne, yet on hearing from the Guru's mouth, everyone said "O Gurudev, we are your servants, please reveal the name by yourself."
Shri Rasikdev Ji knowing everyone's desire said
"O disciples, listen to my truthful words, do not feel guilty in your mind. Kaliyuga is standing at the door of this place, because of me it cannot enter. When I leave the body, then Kaliyuga will enter this place. There is no one in all of you who can stop it. He has made great gods and sages dance. The form of the religion of Shri Swami Haridas is very solemn, like a tigress's milk stays in a golden vessel and not in any other vessel, in the same way, the righteousness of this exclusive devotion can't stay in someone's heart who is not eligible. If you believe my words to be true, then call Shri Pitambar Dev here. From him, the seed of religion will be firm and there will be no effect of Kali Yuga.
Everyone liked the words of Shri Rasikdev Ji very dearly and they wrote a letter to Shri Pitambar Dev Ji and sent it with a monk. On receiving the letter, Shri Pitamber Dev Ji came to Vrindavan and bowed down at the feet of the Guru. Gurudev Shri Rasikdev Ji was pleased and hugged him to his heart. At that very moment, Shri Rasikdev Ji tied his kanthi (tulsi beads) around Shri Pitambar Dev Ji's neck, garlanded his neck, provided a blanket, and Gudadi (a piece of cloth), and duly anointed him. Shri Pitambar Dev Ji was seated in the form of a Mahant (head) in the Kunj.
After this Shri Rasikdev Ji left his body and entered Nikunj Palace.
Shri Pitambar Dev Ji, the gem of the assembly of saints and the man of religion, patience, and solemn mind, sat on the throne and started doing welfare of all.
