Re Man Moorkh Janam Ganwayo - Shri Surdas, Sursagar

(Raag Dhanashri)
Re Man Moorkh Janam Ganwayo,
Kari Abhimaan Vishay Ko Raanchau, Hari Gun Tu Nahin Gaayo. [1]
Yah Sansaar Phool Semar Kau, Sundar Dekhi Lubhaayo.
Chaakhan Laagyo Rui Udaani, Haath Kachhu Nahin Aayo. [2]
Kaha Bhayo Ab Avasar Beete, Pahilain Nahin Kamaayo.
Kahat Soor Bhagvant-Bhajan Binu, Sir Dhuni-Dhuni Pachhitaayo. [3]

- Shri Surdas, Sursagar

Oh, foolish mind, you've wasted this life in vain. Indulging in pride, and chasing worldly desires, you've failed to sing the glories of Hari. [1]

The world is like a Semal flower (silk cotton tree), initially enchanting in its appearance, but yielding fruit that cracks when ripe. It contains neither pulp nor nectar, akin to cotton dispersing in the wind, leaving nothing to hold in one's hand. [2]

As this golden opportunity (of human birth) slips away, you'll wonder why you didn't make use of it earlier. Shri Surdas ji emphasizes that without devotion to Shri Hari, you'll ultimately find yourself in tears, filled with regret. [3]
