Dev Hu Bhaye Tai Kaha, Indra Hu Bhaye Tai Kaha,
Vidhi Hu Kai Lok Tai Bahuri Aaiyatu Hai. [1]
Manush Hu Bhaye Tai Kaha, Bhupati Bhaye Tai Kaha,
Dvij Hu Bhaye Tai Kaha Paar Jaaiyatu Hai. [2]
Pashu Hu Bhaye Tai Kaha, Pakhi Hu Bhaye Tai Kaha,
Pannag Hu Bhaye Tai Kaha Kyon Aghaaiyatu Hai. [3]
Chhutibe Kaun ‘Sundar’ Upai Ek Sadhu Sang,
Jinki Kripa Ati Sukh Paiyatu Hai. [4]
- Shri Sundar Ji
What is so special about becoming a celestial god? Or attains the position of Indra, the king of heaven? For it is merely material and fleeting, and, by the law of creation, one must return to the mortal world again. [1]
If one takes birth as a human and even becomes a king, what is the benefit? Even if one becomes a Brāhmaṇa, yet fails to cross the ocean of worldly existence, their life is ultimately wasted. [2]
What is the worth in becoming an animal, a bird, or even a serpent, if one cannot satiate the soul’s eternal hunger — the longing to know the ultimate truth? [3]
Śrī Sundardās Jī says, the only means of liberation from this ocean of existence lies in the association of a true saint. Through their grace alone, the soul attains the ultimate happiness of realizing God. [4]
