Nav Kunj-Sadan Main Aaj Rangili Hori.
It Syama, Ut Syam Manohar, Khelat Umang Na Thori. [1]
Chhal-Bal Ghat Lagavat Mohan, Ang Bachavat Gori.
Savadhan Dou Sughar Manohar, Apni-Apni Ori. [2]
Kok-Kala Kal-Keli Paraspar, Joban Jor Kisori.
Chatur Khilar Ladili Lalan, Tum Jin Janao Bhori. [3]
Haha Karau, Parau Payan Ab, Na Chalihain Barjori.
Bhagavat Rasik Udar Swamini, Daihain Sarbasu Chhori. [4]
- Shri Bhagwat Rasik, Bhagwat Rasik Ki Vani, Ananyarasikabharan Granth (12.2)
In the ever-new Nikunja palace, today a festival of colors, Holī, unfolds. On one side stands Śrī Kiśorījī, and on the other stands Śrī Śyāmasundara, firm and enthusiastic. [1]
With playful mischief and gentle force, Śyāmasundara tries again and again to shower Her with colors, but Kiśorījī skillfully guards Her delicate form. These beautiful, enchanting Beloveds, Priyā Lāla, are equally alert and skillful on their respective sides. Neither can impose color upon the other. [2]
A smiling sakhī then says, “O Lālajī, do not think our Lāḍilījī naive. She is eternally youthful and unmatched in these loving sports. However clever you may be, she will not be conquered through these clever strategies.” [3]
Your cleverness and force will not prevail here. Adopt the means you have always embraced—plead before Her and bow at Her lotus feet humbly. Svāminījī is exceedingly gracious; the moment You do so, She will lovingly offer Herself unto You. [4]
