(Sawaiya)
Pita-Sut-Bandhu Kaha Samabandh, Sabai Jag Andh Na Gandh Suhatau. [1]
Kaha Basen Gaun Kaha Liye Naunv, Lahai Nahi Thaun Phirai Bilkhatau. [2]
Shribiharinidasi Suhag Bina Ju, Singar Kaun Bharu Chhiya Kari Hantau. [3]
Lalach God Liyo Sut Sauti Ko, Prem Bina Na Virajat Natau. [4]
- Shri Biharin Dev Ji, Shri Biharin Dev Ji Ki Vani, Siddhant Ke Kavitt-Sewaiya (35)
O brother, this is an undeniable truth that in both this world and the other world, no real relationship can exist without pure love. All worldly ties, such as those of mother, father, son, and brother, are fundamentally based upon self-interest. The fragrance of true selfless love is impossible to find here; therefore, only the ignorant beings become entangled in such relationships. [1]
A person devoid of love, even if he resides in the holy dhāma or chants the Divine Name day and night without interruption, cannot attain even the slightest place within the beloved Lord’s divine kingdom of love. [2]
Just as all the adornments of a married woman become meaningless in the absence of her husband, appearing not as a source of joy but as a burden, similarly, external practices without love lose their true purpose. [3]
Just as a woman may, out of greed or circumstance, hold her co-wife’s child in her lap, yet that child can never truly become her own, so too, without selfless love, no spiritual practice or relationship possesses any real worth. In truth, love alone is the essence of all spiritual disciplines; without it, all spiritual practices such as japa, austerity, and fasting are nothing more than a physical drill. [4]
