Chir Ghat or Cheer Ghat, Vrindavan

Chir Ghat is one of the holiest ghats (series of steps leading down to a water body) on the banks of the river Yamuna. This is the place where the famous pastime of Baby Krishna stealing the clothes of the Gopis (Cowherd Maidens) of Vrindavan took place. This place was earlier just on the banks of River Yamuna. But over the years, as Yamuna has changed its course, now Chir Ghat stands at some distance from the Yamuna. There is an ancient Kadamba tree at this place which is still existing since the time of Lord Krishna. Devotees of Vrindavan still worship this tree and even make offerings to this tree. Its also said in the Vedas, that Shri Krishna rarely goes to the samadhis of Paramhans, but here in Braj, he is stealing the clothes of Gopis. That's why the Braj Ras (Bliss of Braj) is highest among all (i:e among Saket Lok, Vaikunth Lok etc). As Shri Krishna states himself in Gita: "ye yathā māṁ prapadyante tāns tathaiva bhajāmyaham" Bhagwat Gita(4.11), Sri Krishna says “In whatever way people surrender unto me, I reciprocate with them accordingly”.
