Old Radha Vallabh Temple, Vrindavan

Chief shrine of Radhavallabh sect, old Radhavallabh Temple at Vrindavan, though now abandoned but protected monument where Shri Radha Vallabh Lal was present earlier. Shri Hit Harivansh Mahaprabhu Established Shri Radhavallabh Lal more than 500 years ago. At that time, Vrindavan was a dense forest. There were no Saints, devotees at that time, Vrindavan was under the Mughal empire. At that time, Hit Harivansh Mahaprabhu came to Vrindavan and installed Shri Radhavallabh Ji at Madan Ter. He built a temple only with creepers and Shri Radhavallabh Ji stayed there. During the era of Shri Hit Harivansh, no concrete temple built ever, He did not allow it to build. Many people came with the proposal to build a concrete grand temple, but He refused. He always opposed the concrete temples. Old Radhavallabh Temple (Now known as ‘Hith Mandir’)in Vrindavan was constructed in 1584 by Sundardas Bhatnagar, a disciple of Sri Vanachandraji, son of Hith Harivansh Mahaprabhu, founder of the Radhavallabh sect. Abdul Rahim Khankhana, the chief head at Akbar's court, in whose employment Sundardas Bhatnagar of Deoband was, got Royal permission to use red sandstone for the construction of temple. Traditions and legacy make the Radhavallabh temple the oldest heritage of Vrindavan. Later on Shri Radha Vallabh Lal shifted to Shri Radha Vallabh Lal temple (building on the back side of the temple) and remains virajman there till date.
