Shri Bhatraund Bihari Temple, Vrindavan

In Bhatraund village, Lord Krishna enjoyed a variety of delectable cooked grains and dishes brought by Brahman's wives.

While grazing the cows near the fire sacrifice area, Shri Krishna and his cowherd friends felt hungry. Krishna sent his friends to beg for food from the Brahmanas who were performing the sacrifice. Unfortunately, the non-devotional Brahmanas were too absorbed in their sacrifice and refused to give them anything. Krishna's friends were insulted and returned to him, but He instructed them to seek food from the wives of those Brahmanas.

Persuaded by Krishna, the cowherd boys went to the homes of the Brahmana's wives and begged for food for Krishna and Balram. Upon hearing their names, the wives were overwhelmed with transcendental emotions and left their homes to see Krishna, bringing with them delicious cooked food on large plates. Despite objections from their husbands, some Brahmanas even locked their wives in their houses, but the women were undeterred and gave up their bodies in the fire of separation from Krishna just to meet Him. When they finally approached Shri Krishna, they were entranced by His dark complexion, which resembled a fresh rain cloud. His yellow garments on his dark limbs swayed like steady lightning.

"Krishna's complexion is a blackish-blue hue like a water-laden rain cloud, and His splendid cloth appears like a flash of lightning. Cresting His head is a peacock feather, and each limb of His body is decorated with exquisite patterns of paint made from colored forest minerals. Sprigs of new leaves and blossoms adorn His body, and upon His neck an enchanting forest-flower garland of five colors hangs down to His knees. Attired in this way like a dramatic dancer, He rests one hand on His friend's shoulder, and with the other twirls a pastime lotus [as if to twist our hearts]. Lilies grace His ears, curly locks of hair splash against His cheeks, and His lotus face blossoms with a gentle smile."

The sight of Krishna overwhelmed the wives of the Brahmanas with love, and they were reluctant to leave his presence. However, upon Krishna's instruction, they prepared themselves to return home. Upon arriving home, they were surprised to find their husband's attitude had changed completely. The Brahmanas now praised their wives' devotion to Krishna and condemned their own birth, knowledge, and expertise in Vedic rituals.
