Vrishbhanu Kund (Jal Mahal, Barsana)

At this Kunda, Shri Vrishbhanu Maharaj, father of Shri Radhika, used to bathe here. After taking bath, He used to go for the darshan of Shri Brajeshwar Mahadev. This Kunda is also known as “Bhanokhar”.

ततो वृषभानु कुण्ड स्थले प्रार्थना मन्त्र:
निर्धूतकिल्विषायैव गोपराजकृताय ते ।
वृषभानुमहाराजकृताय सरसे ।।

In Braj Bhakti Vilas, It is mentioned that Shri Vrishbhanu Kunda is the pond of King Vrishbhanu. Whoever bathes there, becomes free from sins. This Kunda was established by King Vrishbhanu Himself.

This sarovar is very dear to both Shri Radha and Shri Krishna. Both have sported in water sports here in various ways.
