Govardhan
Shri Krishn protected Braj by holding Shri Giriraj Ji on the little finger of his left hand for seven days and had destroyed the pride of Indra. Govardhan along with various types of secret Nikunjs, caves, lakes filled with crystalline waters, and various types of worshipful stuff has incarnated in Braj Dham from the divine Golok Vrindavan to serve Shri Radha Krishn. From the point of view of personality, in spite of being inseparable from Krishn, he is considered to be the best among 'Haridasavarya' i.e. Lord Hari's servants. Gopis have addressed Govardhan as 'Haridasvarya'. Incarnation pastime : According to Gargasamhita - Once sage Pulastya was traveling on various pilgrimages, at that time he saw Govardhan, the son of Dronachal, King of mountains. Govardhan was covered with the flowers of Madhavi creeper, their trees were covered with fruits and flowers, and there was peace on the mountain. The habitat was making him more beautiful, being attracted by this divine beauty, the sage wanted to get it. For this, he went near Dronachal. Dronachal honored him. After that Pulastya Ji said to the mountain - "O Drona! You are the lord of the mountains. I have come near you as a beggar, a sage resident of Kashi. You give your son to me because here I have no purpose for anything else. " Hearing this from Pulastya Ji, tears filled the eyes of Dronachal, full of love for his son. He could not even refuse for fear of disobedience. So he said - "O best among the sages! I am filled with my son's affection. This son is very dear to me but fearful of your curse, I hand him over to you." Then Govardhan said to the sage - "O sage! My body is around 100 km long, 25 km high, and 50 km wide. How will you carry this huge hill?" Pulastya Ji said - "Son! You sit on my hand and come with me happily." Govardhan said – "O sage! I have one condition..." Pulastya - "What is that?" Govardhan - "Wherever you once put me on the ground, I will not rise again." Pulastya - "I also promise that I will not keep you anywhere in the path." Thereafter, Govardhan bowed down to his father and mounted on the right hand of the sage. At that time the eyes of Shri Govardhan Ji were filled with tears. Sage Pulastya left with Govardhan. When they reached Braj Mandal, then Govardhan remembered, Daanleelaam Maanaleelaam Hariratr Karishyati. Tasmaanmaya Na Gantavyam Bhoomishcheyam Kalindaja. Golokadradhaya Saarddham Shrikrishnotraagamishyati. Kritakrityo Bhavishyaami Kritva Taddarshanam Param. Evam Vichaary Manasa Bhoori Bhaaram Dadau Kare. Tada Munishch Shraantobhoodbhutapoorvam Gatasmritih. Karaaduttaary Tam Shailam Nidhaay Brajamandale. Laghushankaanjayaartham Hi Gatobhoodbhaarapeeditah. - Garg Samhita, Vrishbhanupur Khand 2/38-41 Here in Braj, my lord Shri Krishn will incarnate along with Shri Radha and perform many divine pastimes along with cowherd friends, Gopijanas, etc. So I should not go anywhere else from here. Considering this in his mind, Govardhan increased his weight too much. This made the sage tired and he could not remember his condition. He placed Govardhan on the Brajmandal and went to take a bath and started lifting Govardhan, but he couldn't. Govardhan stopped moving, Pulastya Ji said to Govardhan - "Get up now"! The sage started lifting Govardhan with both hands, but could not lift it. The sage said to Govardhan, "O best among the mountains! Come on, don't increase the weight too much. I know that you are upset. Tell me soon what do you mean?" Govardhan said - "O sage! I have no fault in this. You have established me here. Now I will not get up from here as per my vow." Hearing this, the sage got angry and he cursed - "You are very insolent. You didn't fulfill my wish, so keep diminishing by a mole every day." Cursing this, the sage went to Kashi. Since then, the Govardhan mountain is getting depleted every day by a mole. Location : Giriraj Govardhan is situated at a distance of about 14 miles to the west of Mathura.
