The name “Radha” consists of two syllables: “Ra,” meaning “to give,” and “Dha,” meaning “to receive.” Shri Radha, the fair one, constantly bestows all joy, while Shri Krishna, the dark one, receives it. For this reason, Rasikas regard the name “Radha” as a Yugal name, representing both Shri Radha and Shri Krishna together.
The divine couple, one fair and the other dark, embodies an endless ocean where the waves of intimate love-play (Keli Rasa) perpetually surge. Rasik saints have sung its glory in the past, are singing it now, and will continue in the future.
A practitioner should firmly establish in the heart the conviction that this very Vṛndāvana is the manifest Nikunja Palace of Śrī Śyāmā-Śyāma. Within this divine palace, all souls, regardless of gender, are maidservants engaged in the eternal service of the divine Couple.
Śrī Rādhā alone is the guru of Śrī Śyāmasundara, She who bestows all happiness upon Him.
Revealing the profound mystery of the holy name "Rādhā," Śrī Lāḍalīdāsa explains that the syllable "Rā" is the very form of fair-complexioned Śrī Priyā Jī (Śrī Rādhā), while the syllable "Dhā" represents dark-complexioned Ghanaśyāma (Śrī Kṛṣṇa). The effortless and inseparable love between these two divine forms is contained within the name "Rādhā," which is, in truth, the perfect union of one life residing within two transcendental bodies.
