Gandheshwari, Braj - Divine Pastimes

Gandheshwari, Braj - Divine Pastimes

Gandh means fragrance and ishwari means Goddess. Gandheshwari name is for Radha Rani.

It is said that Shri Krishna became intoxicated by the fragrance emanating from the body of Radha Rani, who was hiding nearby with her friends. Seeing Shri Radha Rani, the flute slipped from His hands, His peacock- feather crown fell at Her lotus feet, and He fainted. This place is therefore called Gandheswari Tirtha.

Radha Rani is also called Gandharva. To this day, Gandharva Kunda (so named after Radha Rani) continues to celebrate the triumphant, amorous pastimes of Shri Radha Kund. In modern times, the name Gandheswari has changed to Ganeshwari.
