Bhakt Apradh - Incident related to Shri Roop Goswami's pastimes

While associating with the devotees, one should always be careful and never create any ill feelings in their hearts. In this regard, there is one incident that is as such.

One day, in Vrindavan, as Roop Goswami was thinking in a happy mood, He saw Radha Rani being dressed by Her Sakhis. At that time Krishna was hiding behind Radha Rani watching. Although Radha Rani was unaware of Krishna's presence, the Sakhis knew and were very eager to disclose the fact to Her. After finishing decorating Radha's hair very nicely, they held a mirror in front of Her. As Shri Radha Rani looked upon the beauty of Her face, She also saw the moonlike face of Krishna in the mirror.

Radha Rani, feeling embarrassed and somewhat perplexed, immediately covered Herself with Her cloth. All the Sakhis began laughing, and Roop Goswami also joined them in laughter.

At that time one devotee arrived there in great eagerness to see Roop Goswami. Seeing Roop Goswami laugh broke the devotee's heart, so without speaking, he went to see Sanatan. That devotee said to Sanatan, “When I went to see Roop Goswami, he started laughing upon seeing me. Being distressed in my mind, I did not say anything, but came to inquire from you.”
Sanatan explained to the devotee the reason behind Roop Goswami's laughter, and the devotee felt repentant on hearing the explanation. He lamented, “Why I have gone at that time? Without knowing Roop Goswami's mind, I have offended him.” Thinking in this way, that devotee was disturbed. Sanatan Goswami, however, pacified him. Meanwhile, Roop Goswami, who was absorbed in those pastimes, suddenly lost his feelings of ecstasy. Being very disturbed, Roop Goswami looked around understanding that someone had come there. “I have committed an offense by not showing someone proper respect.” Thinking like this, He went to see Sanatan Goswami.

Seeing Roop Goswami coming, that devotee went ahead to greet him and offered his obeisances by falling on the ground. With great humility, he said to Roop Goswami, “I have committed an offense, therefore please forgive me. A short time ago I came to see you, and without understanding your actions some doubts came to my mind. Therefore I came here to Sanatan Goswami who mercifully cleared my doubts. Now if you kindly show your mercy on me then my mind will be pacified.”

After hearing these words, Roop Goswami felt grief-stricken and with folded hands fell to the ground offering obeisances. “I cannot describe how much I have offended you. Please forgive me.” In this way with humility and devotion, they forgave each other and thus felt pacified. Returning to Sanatan they absorbed themselves in topics of Krishna for a long time. When everyone heard about this incident of Roop Goswami, they were struck with wonder.

One should be very careful with the devotees. Beg their forgiveness from any offense with your heart and soul. Be careful not to find faults in the devotees and always chant their glories. All the previous acharyas say that even a learned person cannot understand the behavior of a devotee. Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu has instructed these things through His dear devotees.

"Jar chitte krishn prema karaye udaya tarra vakya, kriya, mudra vigyeha na bujhaya"
Chaitanya Charitamrit - Madhya(23.39)

Even the most learned man and Paramhans, cannot understand the words, activities, and symptoms of a person situated in the divine love of Shri Krishna.
