This is the spot in Goverdhan near Kusum Sarovar, where Shri Narada Muni performed penance on the advice of Vrinda Devi, and the place where he is said to have written his famous Narada-bhakti-sutras explaining the science of devotional service. Naradavana is also mentioned in the Puranas to be one of the upavanas of Vrindavana. There is a temple here next to the Kunda where the deity of Narada Muni can be seen. One day while he was engaged in penance, Narada noticed Vrinda Devi passing by with some of her girlfriends and he humbly begged her to bless him so he might enter the rasa-mandala to witness the rasa-dance. Vrinda Devi informed him that he should first take bath at Kusum-Sarovar, after which his desire would be fulfilled. After bathing in the sacred Kusum-Sarovar, Narada immediately achieved the form of a gopi and was able to enter the rasa-mandala to see the rasa-dance between Radha and Krishna.
It is written in Aadi Purana:
"Yatraiv Narado Nityam Snan Kritva Tapashcharan. Yato Narada Kundakhyam Sarveyhi Faldayakam"
Taking a bath in Narad Kund leads to the fulfillment of desire.
According to Bhavishya Purana, the devotee Dhruva was given the initiation mantra here by Shri Narada.
Here Shri Narad Ji, at the end of Styuga, gave Satsang to Bhaktamati Kayadhu Ji, the religious wife of the demon Hiranyakashipu, which led to the birth of Bhakta Prahlad as stated in the 6th chapter of the 7th skandha of Srimad Bhagavatam.
Shri Uddhav Ji, the supreme friend of Lord Shri Krishna, says in the Bhagavata Mahatma Skandha Purana II Vaishnav section from his mouth, "I reside on Narada Kund in the context of Narada Ji.
It is here that Narad Ji gave Adya Nimbarkacharya the initiation of Gopal Mantra Raj.
Construction of temple and Kunda is done by Shri Govardhansharan Dev Ju, eighth master in the tradition of Swami Haridas Ji, in the year 1886, on the command of Shri Narada Ji. When digging between five trees, Shri Narada Ji's Shri Vigraha was found. Then he built a temple and established Shri Vigraha and built the pier of the Kund. Shri Govardhansharan Dev Ju appointed his disciple's disciple Shri Swami Krishnavallabhsharandev Ju to be the Mahant here. Since then, the saints and seekers of his tradition, have been living here. Here, there are trees of Paras and Ficus religiosa trees in which flowers of many colors bloom. Worshiping it and circumambulation leads to the fulfillment of desire.
