- Shri Surdas, Sur Sagar

Today is the day of the ‘Deepawali’ [festival of lights]. Yashoda tells Nanda Baba that this festival is very dear to Her. [1]

All the gopis are dressed beautifully and graced their presence in the palace of Nand. They decorate golden trays and place lamps in it, and sing lovingly. [2]

Yasoda’s courtyard is crowded with the ladies of Braj who are all sworn to see and always love Lord Krishn. Shri Surdas sings the glories of the lovely ceremony of the waving of the lights at this Diwali. [3]
