Upon hearing the Lord's name Dīnabandhu (“Friend of the destitute”), my heart is filled with hope, for I am a fallen soul and He is the protector of the destitute. But when I hear His name Bhakta-vatsala (“Lover of His devotees”), my heart burns with anguish, for I am not yet truly His pure devotee. Yet that very anguish awakens within me an intense longing to attain genuine devotion.
