Shri Thakurani Ghat - Gokul
This place is especially important for the Vaishnavas of the Vallabh sect. When Shri Vallabhacharya Ji first came to Braj, he stayed in Brihadvan. While He was exploring a place of pastime, Shri Yamuna Ji appeared in the form of a supremely beautiful girl and said, "This (present) place is Shri Thakurani Ghat."
It is on this ghat that Mahaprabhu Shri Vallabhacharya had composed Yamunashtak. Here is the Baithak (a place of spiritual discourses) of Shri Vallabhacharya Mahaprabhu. There is a temple of Shri Yamuna and Shrinath Ji here.
It is considered the limit of Shri Radharani from Shri Thakurani Ghat to Rawal village.
Shri Govind Ghat is situated on the right side of Shri Thakurani Ghat.
Shri Govind Ghat - Gokul
When Shri Mahaprabhu Vallabhacharya Ji was in the forest of Jharkhand during his journey of India, he experienced the divine grace of Shri Krishn and came to Braj. He came on the banks of Yamuna and curiously asked the elderly people about the place. The elderly people heard from their ancestors told Mahaprabhu that nearby is the cowshed of King Nand and the place where you are seated is known as Govind Ghat.
Shri Mahaprabhu sat there under the Shami tree and recited Shrimad Bhagwatam for a week.
Mahaprabhu Shri Vallabhacharya Ji placed his worshipful deity and started praying. The Lord appeared in the mid-night. Wearing Pitambar (golden colored cloth), holding a sparkling coil in his ears, flute in his hand, Vaijayanti garland (garland made from 5 flowers) on His chest, dense curly hair, peacock-feather on his crown, spreading the dazzling radiance appeared. Shri Krishn touched Shri Mahaprabhu's face with His Pitambar end in affection, which gave Mahaprabhu a new life. Shri Krishn ordered Mahaprabhu to initiate devotees for the salvation of the world. Ocean of Mercy Shri Krishna also assured that "I will accept whoever devotee you put before me for the salvation of the world." After this Shri Krishn disappeared.
It is here that Shri Vallabhacharya Ji composed the world-famous Shri Madhurashtakam. First of all, at this very site, Mahaprabhu Vallabhacharya Ji gave initiation to 'Shri Damodar Das Harsani'.
From Govind Ghat to Gokul village, the limit of Shri Krishn is considered.
Shri Thakurani Ghat is situated on the immediate left of Govind Ghat. There is a temple of Shri Yamuna Ji and Shrinath Ji here.
