(Rag Dhanashri)
Kahan Sukh Vraj Ko So Sansar.
Kahan Sukhad Vanshivat Yamuna, Yah Man Sado Vichar. [1]
Kahan Banadham Kahan Radha Sang, Kahan Sang Vrajabam.
Kahan Ras Raas Bich Antar Sukh Kahan Naari Tan Taam. [2]
Kahan Lata Taru Taru Prati Bujhani, Kunj Kunj Nav Dham.
Kahan Virah Sukh Binu Gopin Sang, Surashyam Man Kam. [3]
- Shri Surdas
I always ponder, Where in this whole wide world is there any realm as pleasurable as Braj? Where else is there a place as pleasant as Bansi Bat, the tree where I play my flute on the banks of the Sri Yamunaji River? [1]
Where else is My forest-dwelling, or My unitedness with Sri Radha and the Gopis? Where else is My pastime of the Raas [circle-dance], and the agony of the maidens of Braj when I hide from them? [2]
Where else are those moments of yearning and shedding tears when they ask the trees and vines where I am and search for me in every corner of the forest and on every path therein? Without the Gopis, where else to experience their blissful pain of separation? Shri Suradas's dark Lord Shyam says, "I long for all these in My heart”. [3]
