Seeing the residents of Braj worshipping Govardhan, Indra got angry, and started raining heavily in Braj but seeing the failure of his efforts and the protection of residents of Braj and cows by Shri Krishn, Indra understood that Shri Krishn is the supreme God, so He got scared.
The mother of the demigod inspired Indra – “Son! Take Surbhi cow with you, He is Gopal. His heart will be filled with joy at the sight of a cow. Surbhi is very dear to Krishn and Krishn is very dear to Surbhi.”
The mother of the demigod inspired Indra – “Son! Take Surbhi cow with you, He is Gopal. His heart will be filled with joy at the sight of a cow. Surbhi is very dear to Krishn and Krishn is very dear to Surbhi.”
Indra came to Shri Krishn with Surabhi cow. Indra saw Lord sitting on a rock. Indra got down from Airavat and put his crown at the Lotus Feet of Shri Krishn and started apologizing for his actions. Indra praised Shri Krishn and named Govind because he is the source of joy and nourishment for all the cows, Braj, and the residents of Braj. Surbhi cow anointed Shri Krishn with her milk, which made this Govind Kund.
Surbhi Surpati Sang Liye Nirakhi Krishn Mukh Indu.
Kiyo Raaj Abhishek Tahn Bhayau Kund Govind.
-Shri Jagadanand Ji
“Indra along Surbhi cow came to Krishn, and by looking the Lotus Face of the Lord, Surbhi anointed Him with her milk, due to which Govind Kund was manifested.”
Govind Kund is the holiest pilgrimage that takes away all sins. Govind Kund is situated near Govardhan. This beautiful place has preserved many beautiful pastimes.
Pastimes of Shrinathji related to Govind Kund :
First context :
Once upon a time, Shri Govind Swami was angry with Shrinathji for the bet of the game. He sat on this Govind Kund, waiting for Shrinathji and thinking “when Shrinathji would come, I would not spare him without beating him”.
Pot Laike Aayo Bhaaji Ganvar.
Kholi Kibar Dhasyo Ghar Bheetar Sikhe Diye Lagavar.
Kabahun To Nikasaigau Bahar Aisi Duongo Maar.
'Govind' Prabhu Sau Bair Ab Karikai Sukhi Na Sovai Yaar.
"You coward, when my bet came, you ran away and opened the door and went inside the temple and taught the watchman to push me away if I come. Govind Swami says that sooner or later you will come out, then I will beat you such that you will never forget it, by taking animus with me, you can't sleep peacefully."
Gusain Shri Vitthalnathji persuaded Govind Swami, which pacified his anger, then Govind Swami went and took Prasad with Shrinathji.
Second context :
Once Shrinathji was playing with Kanha Bhangi, who was of the lower cast. Govind Swami saw him and said that Gusain ji follows so many ethics and purity in the temple. Now you have to bathe in this Govind Kund then only You can enter the temple. As soon as Shrinathji came to the bank of the kund, Govind Swami pushed Him from behind and made him fall into the kund and clapped and ran away laughing. Shrinathji came to the temple in wet clothes. When Gusainji asked Shrinathji about wet clothes, Shrinathji said that "Govind had pushed me into the pool." Gusain ji called Govind and asked, then Govind Swami told that Shrinathji was playing with Kanha Bhangi. To purify Him, I pushed Him into the pond. Gusain Ji became calm after hearing this.
Third context :
Raskhan also came for the darshan of Shrinathji, but recognizing him as a Mlechha, no one allowed him inside and pushed him out of the temple. Raskhan had heard that Govind Kund is the place of playful pastimes of Shrinathji. He always comes here to play with His friends, so Raskhan came and sat on the Govind Kund. It's been three days sitting there, he even didn't take any food or water. His heart was restless. On the fourth day, Gusainji brought Shrinathji with him.
Mohan Chhavi 'Raskhan' Lakhi, Ab Drig Apne Nahin.
Khainchat Aavat Dhanush Se Chhutat Shar Se Jahin.
“After seeing Shri Krishn, my eyes are no longer mine. Like a bow, Krishn's eyebrows are wounding me with His arrows.”
After this, Raskhan took bath in this Govind Kund, and Gusain Ji initiated him in the Pushti sect.
Fourth context :
The story of Rahim Ji is also the same. He also came to Jatipura (Govardhan) after hearing about the glories of Shrinathji, the ocean of beauty. Seeing as a mleccha, the doorkeepers pushed him out of the temple. He came back annoyed and sat on the Govind Kund.
Shrinathji himself came with a plate of food, but Rahimji turned away from Shrinathji as he was annoyed by the incident that happened in the temple. Shrinathji kept the plate of food nearby and disappeared. After seeing Lord once, how can one control his eyes for a long time? Rahim's eyes wanted that darshan again and he turned his eyes to see the Lord, but by then Shrinathji had disappeared. Now the pain of separation arose in the heart of Raskhan making him distressed for a glimpse of the beautiful form of Shri Krishn.
Kamaldal Nainani Ki Unmani.
Bisarat Nahin Sakhi Mo Man Te Mand Mand Muskani.
“O Sakhi, Shri Krishna's beautiful Eyes are like the lotus petals, my heart can't forget his gentle smile.”
Rahim Ji felt as if his body would be burnt in the fire of separation. The eyelids rise up, but without seeing Krishn, they bend again. This restlessness again called Shri Krishna and He appeared to Rahim ji, who became happy after seeing Him.
