With great effort, one should abandon the association of sinful souls who are turned away from the Lord (bhagavad-vimukha), because their words pierce the heart like sharp arrows. One should remain extremely cautious, even of accidentally meeting, seeing, or touching them, because such association (asat-saṅga) inevitably becomes a great obstacle on the path to attaining the Lord. [1]
Those fallen souls who remain perpetually absorbed in the filthy pleasures of this world and the gratification of the senses possess not even the slightest trace of true happiness, nor does the thought of genuine spiritual welfare ever arise within their hearts. Śrī Yugala-Priyā Jī firmly declares, "May I never, under any circumstance, fall into the degrading association of such souls, even if avoiding such company should require me to endure the torments of the darkest hell for countless ages." [2]
