People often distance themselves from the rasika saints and great souls whose sacred association they should constantly seek, while their minds cling like a magnet to those materialistic souls who are immersed in worldly desires—the very association from which they ought to remain distant. [1]

Due to such association, their intellects become so corrupted that they turn away from Śrī Hari and Śrī Guru, remaining engrossed all their lives only in food, clothing, external conduct, wealth, and women. [2]

Śrī Bhagavatrasika Jī says that the exclusive rasikas do not compete with the conduct of such foolish people, for they have absolutely no liking for their way of life. They are well aware of the secret that by associating with such worldly-minded individuals and adopting contrary ways, even a soul who is very close to attaining the supreme state ultimately falls and is once again deprived of that supreme destination.
