The sakhīs of Braja, headed by Śrī Lalitā, are immersed in sakhya-rasa and cannot endure separation from the lotus feet of Śrī Rādhā even for half a moment. They accept Śrī Rādhikā alone as their husband and, always remaining under Her shelter, adorn themselves with auspicious ornaments such as nose-rings, bracelets, bangles, jhalakā, and other symbols of married fortune.
There are many types of devotees of the Lord, and there are also many distinctions in their bhāvas—such as dāsya, sakhya, and so forth. Therefore, a sādhaka who associates with others without understanding these gradations among devotees must first, with careful discernment, choose an association that is compatible with his own bhakti-bhāva; otherwise, in the end, he will only meet with regret.
Some are captivated by the impersonal Brahman. Others are wild with the bliss of offering prayers [as a Dasya Bhava] to the Lord.
"O scoundrel, why do You come near to my sakhi friend, which is dear to me as my life? If You dare to touch Her breast You will faint in ecstasy, for sure!" O Radha, wherever You go, when Your lover follows You, I will chase Him away with these words. When will I delight both Your hearts and increase your love with these words?
