Blessed indeed are the quails and partridges of Śrī Vṛndāvana. Out of fear of hawks, they remain hidden within the shelter of the groves day and night. Yet they never leave Vṛndāvana or fly elsewhere, always remaining under the refuge of its sacred nikunjas.
O Svāminī Jī! You already know the true condition of my mind, for no spiritual endeavor or penance can ever be accomplished through the strength of my physical body. I truly do not comprehend by what immense strength of Your causeless mercy, I have been blessed with the sacred path of Śrī Harivaṁśa Mahāprabhu, the supreme ācārya of rasopāsanā.
Today, the eternal youthful Couple, Śrī Rādhā-Kṛṣṇa, are blossoming like the spring season itself. Fair-complexioned Kiśorī Jī has placed Her arm upon the shoulder of Śyāmasundara, and He appears beautifully sheltered within the embrace of Her arms.
The supremely delicate Kiśorī Jī (Śrī Rādha) is resting upon a bed together with Her priytama Lāl Jī (Śrī Kṛṣṇa). Deeply embraced, they are absorbed in divine loving pastimes within this most secluded nikunja, free from all hesitation or reserve.
O sakhī! Did you behold the astonishing and charming pastimes of Priyā-Priyatama today? My words are insufficient to describe such a delightful sight. Our beloved Śrī Rādhā adorned Her head with a peacock feather, held a flute and cowherd’s staff in Her hands, and wore a yellow garment around Her waist. Thus, She assumed the appearance of Śrī Kṛṣṇa.
I offer my repeated salutations unto the supremely sacred Śrī Vṛndāvana Dhāma, where attaining even the position of a tiny blade of grass is extremely rare for divine beings such as Lord Brahmā. Yet this divine abode is ever eager to grant supreme support and shelter to insignificant souls like ourselves.
Hail, hail to Śrī Rādhā, Kīrti’s charming daughter! Hail to Her who is the very source of Nanda’s son, Śrī Kṛṣṇa. Hail to that Divine Mistress, the root of all bliss, who dwells as the essence of Her servant‘s hearts and remains their highest hope.
Śrī Rādhā’s intimate companion, Śrī Vipulabihāriṇīdāsī, says to her soul-beloved sakhi (Śrī Rādhā) — O beloved Priyā Jū! Please meet and sport together with Śrī Mohanalāla (Śrī Kṛṣṇa) as per your heartfelt wish. When you become intoxicated in divine rasa and engage in amorous plays of love with your beloved Kuñjabihārī, then only our body, mind, and very life-breath blossom with joy, as though every pore of our being becomes completely fulfilled in every way.
Who is there to speak, and who is there to hear? Lāl Jī (Śrī Kṛṣṇa), knows nothing apart from Śrī Rādhā. Without His beloved and only Svāminī, Śrī Rādhikā, the whole world appears empty and meaningless to Him.
The lotus feet of Śrī Rādhā Māhārānī are softer even than lotus petals and more vibrant than the deep radiance of a blooming rose. Their reddish splendor puts to shame even the tender hue of fresh mango leaves.
I have renounced, from a far distance, all worldly pursuits — the comforts of family life and endless material desires. Not only that, but after long practice, I have also become disheartened with disciplines such as japa, vows, and various spiritual practices, and have abandoned them all.
Lāl Jī (Śrī Kṛṣṇa) remains intensely eager to relish the beauty of Śrī Rādhā. He gazes upon her constantly, yet never finds satisfaction. Beholding her forest-like beauty, His eyes become so deeply entangled that they refuse to turn away.
Upon the banks of the Yamunā, Śrī Giridhara Lāla, together with Śrī Rādhikā, is dancing within the beautiful circle of the rāsa-maṇḍala.
Through this couplet, Dayābāī Jī expresses the divine experience of beholding Śyāmā-Śyāma in Śrī Vṛndāvana Dhāma. She says, lost in the burning pain of separation, she cried out again and again, calling “Śyāmā-Śyāma,” until one day, in a secluded kuñja, the divine Couple, Lāḍilī Lāl, revealed Themselves to her. In that single moment, her life transformed into complete fulfillment.
The ever-new divine couple, Śrī Lāḍilīlāla, are the very life and treasure of all the sakhīs and sahacarīs. They grant supreme bliss and eternally protect the very life of Their devotees.
Śrī Priyā Jī (Śrī Rādhā) guides Her beloved Śrī Kṛṣṇa in the graceful art of dance, at times playfully holding a small stick to gently discipline Him. As Lāḍilī Jī makes Him dance, Śrī Kṛṣṇa dances exactly as She directs, fully under Her command.
Śrī Śyāmasundara lovingly applies mahāvara to the lotus feet of His beloved Śrī Rādhā.
O my divine couple, kindly accept this humble prayer of mine. Just as Śrī Vṛndāvana Dhāma manifests beautifully upon this earth, so may that sacred land manifest within my heart as well.
O tender One, Śrī Rādhā, beloved of Kuñja-bihārī Śrī Kṛṣṇa, seeing my insignificance, please cast Your merciful glance upon me.
